Consumption Tax and Elimination of Social Security

Jason’s post on progessive taxation really got me thinking.  I haven’t worked through this too much in my head, but I am starting to kind of like the idea of combining a consumption tax (all savings and capital gains are tax free) with an elimination of the social security tax.  Here’s some rough reasoning:
