Vindicated!

I can’t help but feel vindicated by the recent ClimateGate emails.  If you haven’t heard about it see here.  I’m not trying to argue that the global warming debate is over.  It won’t die that easily.  But, what comes through in these emails is that many of the leading alarmist scientists were cooking the books and trying to keep opposing views out of peer-reviewed journals.

I made the following comment on one of my earliest posts.

“Many scientists have an agenda just like a newspaper or politician. Most of scientific funding comes from government. Look at the IPCC which is funded by the UN. The scientists working at the IPCC would not have a job if it were not for the global warming fears. They want to keep the big grants flowing.”

For example:

“Consider the case of Phil Jones, the director of the CRU and the man at the heart of climategate. According to one of the documents hacked from his center, between 2000 and 2006 Mr. Jones was the recipient (or co-recipient) of some $19 million worth of research grants, a sixfold increase over what he’d been awarded in the 1990s.”

You can read more about the money trail in this WSJ op-ed here.  As for me, I’m going to sit back and enjoy the vindication a bit longer.

Hallelujah! What amazes me is how many people can eat up total bs when it stinks really really bad.

One of the biggest supports of climate change requiring “crisis-type” actions has been the idea that these changes will cause catastrophic weather to occur more often (more tornadoes, more hurricanes, etc).

Despite the availability of scientific data showing otherwise, I continually hear that there are more earthquakes this year than ten years ago, or that there are more violent hurricanes this year than ten years ago.

Well, I was happy to see on Bloomberg a couple days ago, “The Atlantic hurricane season ended today after producing the fewest named storms in 12 years. It was the first time in three years that no hurricane struck the U.S. mainland.” As a result, Al Gore has removed a slide from his global warming presentation that global warming causes more hurricanes.
    Sucka!
