Swine flu has gripped the nation, like the new Ricky Martin or Beanie Babies. Everyone’s talking about it. So let’s talk about it.
Swine flu!
President Obama asked congress for $1.5 billion in emergency funds to fight the “pandemic” that has hit 64 Americans so far. In Mexico things are much worse, for which I am sorry, but here in the States, isn’t $1.5 billion a bit much? I’m thinking there will be tons (in the literal meaning of the word) of drugs lying around after this thing blows over. Bad for the tax payer, good for the drug maker.
Of course, maybe we will need all those drugs. SWINE FLU!

Too much money, too soon. What will happen to the money if the flu fizzles? Will it be returned on just spent on more Airforce One flights around big cities.
I hate to join the ranks of conspiracy theorists, but I can’t help shake the feeling that all of this is “staged.” Or at least a big distraction.
Seriously, thousands of people die every year from the flu. Every year, there are thousands of strains, mutations, etc that we do not have vaccines for. The highest mortality rates are among the elderly, babies, and poor. And all you can hear on the news coverage is “Pandemic!” because ONE child in Texas has died and several hundred in Mexico have. (I don’t mean to sound heartless!)
Point is, yesterday Obama said that he did not believe there was a pandemic, just cause for concern and that you should wash your hands and cover your mouth when you cough. Then during one of his speeches he said (paraphrasing), “if I knew I was going to be given several bank failures, an struggling auto industry, a pandemic, etc, when I took office…”
Here’s my conspiracy theory: Is the media trumping up the dangers to be able to trump up his accomplishments? It certainly sounds better that President Obama successfully managed the US response to the world-wide pandemic, than that he successfully managed the US response to the potential 10 deaths from the flu.
Additionally, is there any chance that this is the same kind of “disease campaign” that Somalia runs every year to get foreign aid? Every year they find that some villages have reported more people with AIDS then there are actual people - because those with the worst problems, get the most money.
I also think its important to point out that Obama inherited this “pandemic” from the previous administration. LOL
Eric B - I’ve found your comments entertaining. My wife and I agree that this has been blown out of proportion by the media, probably by some for political reasons.
I hear that Joe Biden told everyone EVERYONE to cancel all ALL of their vacations. NO TRAVELING! SWINE FLU!
Yeah, whatevah.
