Freddie Mac CFO found dead

Police are calling it suicide with no signs of foul play.  I find this very sad.  Sure, his company was under tons of scrutiny and being heavily regulated by the government.  Sure, his company’s name has become a curse word.  Sure, he was likely involved in creating the housing/credit mess (being the CFO, a senior vice president, the corporate controller, and the principal accounting officer at different points in his 16 years with Freddie Mac).  Even with all of that, it is sad to see someone reach the point where they feel this life is no longer worth living.

Here is a quote from Aristotle on the subject: “To run away from trouble is a form of cowardice and, while it is true that the suicide braves death, he does it not for some noble object but to escape some ill.”

No matter what a person has done wrong in this life, there is always a way to find happiness again, and it does not involve suicide.
